Feel more like yourself again through a mix of various bodywork techniques, exercises and nutrition in a creative and intuitive manner. My underlying philosophy is that we are a team, working together on your return to health.
Deep tissue massage targets muscles, tendons, and fascia or other connective tissues. The work is
usually done after some warm up of the tissues with Swedish massage.
The strokes may be slow and
very deep, quick and intense or moderately done depending on what is needed in the presenting
conditions. If the work will be uncomfortable or painful, the therapist will coach the client in how to
process the discomfort.
Deep tissue is used for injuries, athletes, and people who over use their bodies causing chronic tensions.
There is a possibility of discomfort for a couple days following a session and it is advised to drink more
water than you are used to to flush the lactic acid from the tissues better.
The formula for the correct
amount of water is to divide your weight in half, and that is the number of ounces of water you need
daily. This is your daily requirement of water and after deep tissue it is advised to increase this volume
for the next two to three days.
Your therapist will be using their hands, feet, fists, forearms and elbows to do the work. With deep
tissue, communication is key to your enjoyment and the most effective results. If at any time the pain is
too much and you find yourself resisting the stroke please speak up so your therapist can adjust the
pressure or coach you through the discomfort.
